Cedaredge, CO 81416

These two pristine mountain parcels are located near Cedaredge, Colorado on the south face of the legendary Grand Mesa of Southwest Colorado, which has long been known as one of the best big game hunting areas in the nation. Grand Mesa is home to large herds of Rocky Mountain Elk, as well as Shiras Moose, Mule Deer, Black Bear and Mountain Lion. Both parcels provide excellent hunting opportunities as well as possible livestock grazing. Both parcels are served by a National Forest access road. Parcel B being passenger car accessible while Parcel A has a more rustic road access. Terrain & Vegetation: Both parcels have majestic 180 views of the Uncompahgre Valley back dropped by the 13,000 & 14,000 peaks of the San Juan Mountains. Parcel A: Located at higher elevation, this parcel features rugged rocky cliffs, thick stands of Pinion Pine and Juniper, Savannah Oak, and some grass meadows that are sub-irrigated by intermittent seasonal small streams and springs. Parcel B: Has a mixture of grass covered rolling hills and rocky knolls and canyons containing Pinion Pine, Juniper, sage and other desirable wildlife plant species. Jeep and ATV trails allow enough access to retrieve harvested big game animals. Access: Both parcels are accessed by Delta County maintained roads from Orchard City. Oak Creek Road cuts through the first section of Parcel B (Lower Parcel) before connecting with the East Pipeline Road that heads North through the remainder of Parcel B and on up to Parcel A. East Pipeline Road continues on up to the adjoining Grand Mesa National Forest. Uses: Historically used as livestock grazing land in conjunction with adjoining federal grazing leases, both parcels are also excellent habitat and home to many game species. Elk, Deer, Bear and Lion have all been harvested on the Kier Mountain Ranch. Elk and Deer herds seem to congregate there more in the later rifle hunting season, however archery hunters have also successfully hunted here as well. Both adjoin huntable public land greatly expanding hunting possibilities. Hunting: Both parcels are located in Colorado Game Management Unit 411 where over-the-counter elk tags are available for second and third seasons.
